31 07 2008
With the Travel Industry getting a great boost in India, the travel related companies are in a hunt for new ideas and ways to promote themselves. And with Gay Pride 2008 in vogue, the market of Gay travel and Lesbian travel is prospering across the globe and the Indian market is not far behind from catching on the trend.
Travelling all the way to the capital city New Delhi is fairly convenient by all means. There is no dearth of accommodation in the city, ranging from the very expensive International brand hotels to fairly economical stays. There is also no problem in getting a good guide who can take you around the city throughout your trip. The city is essentially divided into two parts, that is, Old Delhi and New Delhi.
Old Delhi has plethora of legends in its garb. The unassuming look of the surroundings must not be confused with its lacking glamour. The city has a plethora of historic stories to tell with its ancient architecture sprawled wide and across and the numerous historical monuments in the vicinity, namely The Red Fort, The Jama Masjid and many more.
Two days are more than sufficient for a satisfactory and relaxed visit to Old Delhi. Besides the monuments, you can visit the ancient market here, called Chandani Chowk, and have a wonderful time savoring some mouth watering Kebabs from the small road side restaurants with your beloved gay/ lesbian partner. Be amazed at the Indian crafts and have your hands on some really beautiful pieces of Jewellery. I bet you would not be able to stop yourself from buying some amazing embroidered dress materials for your gay/ lesbian partner.
After the Old Delhi, you may like to spend some time around the metro life in India. Enjoy your time in the intimate company of your gay/ lesbian partner at some really rocking Discos, Bars and Pubs in the city. Besides the night life, there are plenty of shopping opportunities inside and around the city, including Dilli Haat for handicrafts, South Extension for all the reputed brands (an elite market it is!) and Connaught Place (an ideal hand in hand hang out for you and your gay/ lesbian partner!). Visit Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar and Sarojini Nagar, if you please a more pocket friendly shopping experience. Not to mention, there are also a number of malls and multiplexes in the city to compliment the good company you would be having. New Delhi also has some places worth a visit, like the Lotus Temple (Bahai temple), the Birla Mandir, Iskon temple, Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, Humanyun’s tomb, Raj Ghat, Chhatarpur Temple and India Gate, to name some.
Unbelievable it may be found, to witness the contrast between the two parts of the same city, depicting the kind of development the country has made and is heading towards.
